There & Back Again - A Drunken Tale by Samuel...
And so it began again.  My downstairs neighbor, Corey, threw a Lunar-themed party last night.  But the guest of honor was nowhere to be seen due to the cloud cover.  We had nothing to howl at.  But howl we did… in the form of singing along to “I’m On A Boat”.  Corey had a decent handful of friends there, as did I, so it was a nice balance.  It was a tad awkward at first, as...

Brief Interviews With Hideous Men
The directorial debut of actor John Krasinski (The Office, Away We Go, etc…) is a thoughtful one; dealing with the inner workings of the everyday male and his fascination with the modern female.  The plot is adapted from David Foster Wallace’s story of the same name. For the first thirty minutes or so, the interviews seem personable and light-hearted with a touch of dark humor.  As...
Jan 30th
It’s a busy day for me.  I just took a shower and am about to eat breakfast.  Then I’m immediately heading to a shoot until about 5 PM.  From there, I’ll be heading back to my apartment to finish watching Brief Interviews With Hideous Men then writing a review.  After that, I’ll probably take a second shower (if I’m messy from the first shoot) and start playing Mass...

Ponyo
Disney has been buying the rights to Westernize Ghibli films since Spirited Away.  This is their most recent endeavor.  Originally titled Ponyo On the Cliff By the Sea, Disney shortened it to, simply, Ponyo. This is an adaptation of the original Little Mermaid tale.  Skeleton - a being from the sea falls in love with a human.  Except in this story, the being from the said being from the sea has...

New York, I Love You
The first thing you should probably know about New York, I Love You is that it’s not one cohesive story.  The cast is huge, and there are multiple directors.  But one thing remains solid - the city itself. Most of the segments are fairly successful… some are interesting with questionable acting *cough*haydenchristensen*cough*, some leave you with questions, and some leave you with a...

My goal for the next two weeks is to make them the best two weeks possible.  No matter what.  The second Gurren Lagann movie is getting subbed, the final season of Lost premieres, and the Saints are going to the Superbowl.  Those three events are sure to help.

So, the shoots went fairly well… now we just have to survive Hofstein’s critique.  And compared to that, the shoots will seem like a cakewalk.

To my two followers...
Sorry about my tit-related posts, but alas, that’s not the last of them.  But this is NOT a breast-centric post.  That being said, I’m feeling replaced.  But it’s okay because I’m too busy to worry about others.  It’s a two-day weekend (a regular weekend to you commoners) and I’m packing in a good amount of work. To kick things off, I’m going to be...

Goemon
Goemon is essentially the eastern Robin Hood.  He steals from the rich and gives to the poor.  Further research can be found by searching “Ishikawa Goemon” on Wikipedia.  This is my first time reviewing a live-action Japanese film, so work with me.  I have seen quite a few Asian movies, but I still can’t judge an Asian’s acting capabilities.  All I can really touch on is...

The Girlfriend Experience
I’ll admit that I’m a noobie to Soderbergh’s films.  Other than TGF (the movie I’m reviewing right now), the only other movies I’ve seen of his are The Informant!, and Traffic.  And those were both excellent.  Did I expect this to be excellent?  To be frank, I didn’t know what to expect.  Traffic and The Informant! were two very different plots, one a dark...

Golden Globes? No. Brown Globes... as in shit.
Let’s get on with it. BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION - John Lithgow (Dexter) - I love John Lithgow, but I’m only on episode two of Dexter BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION - Kevin Bacon (Taking Chance) - He was so drunk, dude.  He was like a surfer dude...

Golden Globes tonight...
My reaction topic will be posted later on in the evening.  My heart is racing, I can’t wait!

I hosted a movie night.
And it didn’t go as well as I had hoped.  Only three people came, and I fell asleep about 30-45 minutes into the movie.  Just a good reminder to never get high when you’re short on sleep.  In other news, I finally beat Modern Warfare 2… or at least the story mode.  It only took me two months.  Now I’m going to start Left 4 Dead 2.

Invictus
I won’t sit here for an hour explaining the plot, I’ll just tell you that it’s about a man who steps into the life of a sports team and inspires them to do great things.  Doesn’t that sound like any other inspirational sporting movie?  Yeah, it does.  Seen Remember The Titans?  Then you’ve seen Invictus.  Seen Radio?  Then you’ve seen Invictus.  Hell… if...

Nine
Otherwise known as “Daniel Day-Lewis Has Mad Swagger”, Nine has a somewhat confusing backstory.  First, there was Fellini’s 8 1/2.  That was adapted into a play.  Then, it was adapted again for an American audience.  Then, a movie was made out of the play.  That movie is Nine. The story is a simple one.  Guido Contini is in the final stages of preproduction before finally...

Sherlock Holmes
When pictures from the set first started surfacing, I was a little apprehensive.  Then the trailer came out, and that didn’t help.  It didn’t resonate as “Sherlock Holmes” in my mind.  It walked, talked, and dressed like Sherlock… but it just wasn’t.  Now, I won’t play the harsh card right off the bat, because I am willing to accept this as an alternate...

2009
It seems like once the new year rolls around, everyone is quick to say, “Fuck the previous year; this year is going to be so much better!”  But I won’t go that route… 2009 was easily one of the best years of my life.  I returned to SCAD after unsuccessfully college-hopping in Fall 2008.  I was wearing on my friends’ nerves back in Louisiana, and a big change was...

Just throwing this out there...
I need to get laid… maybe.  Honestly, I’m sitting pretty.  But if the girl I was dancing with earlier tonight wasn’t in a committed relationship, I probably could’ve made some headway with her (she wasn’t even that pretty -egh). Either way, it’s nice to be back in the SCAD environment with lots of work, little rest, and supportive people around me.
Jan 10th
I find myself adapting quickly to ever obstacle that’s thrown my way… at least with my schoolwork.  I manage to grow and learn and eventually overthrow.  But alas… I’m still not in shape.  So I’ll go make pop tarts to ensure my infinite girth.

Dude... no lie.
I miss Baton Rouge.  But when I actually think about it, I miss it because it was secure.  I would have a steady income working for my dad, a small group of friends, and a more-than-adequate living situation.  But I don’t want that at 21.  I want to keep working my way up outside of Louisiana.
Jan 4th
So, last night I got escorted out of the Niceville Wal-Mart for suspicion of stealing.  Yeah.  I’m extremely lucky.  Especially because they didn’t ask for any information.  Pro-tip: don’t shoplift.  If you’re not going to buy something, put it back on the fucking shelf.

Tonight’s my last night in Baton Rouge.  I’ve replayed this sob story time and time again, but it feels a little different every time.  I’m happy to be returning to my other home… as long as it’s not broken into.
